Thanks India!

I traveled to India from 8th Aug to 16th Aug. This journey was the first experience since I could speak English. Before I could speak English, I had never had such experiences.

In this journey, I took only the round trip tickets to India. Before that, I had joined only the arranged tours that arranged by the travel agency. The difference is that the freedom I get. In the case of the arranged tour, they give us some free days. But it is not free. Example, they decide to stay at a hotel, time and so on. They give us some free days with some conditions. What is freedom? I think that we should decide all by ourselves. For the first time, I decided my own journey and schedule by myself. I traveled to India with good cheer.

I went to the International Tourist Bureau at New Delhi station. There were lots of Japanese there. It was like a Japanese shop. I fed up this scene because the officers and Japanese could not talk with each other smoothly. It took long time for them to get their tickets. While they were talking, the other foreigners had to wait. They could not afford to worry about the other people. In my opinion, they disturb the other people but they have never noticed it. In Varanasi, I entered a coffee shop. All the staff who are Nepalese work there. We became friends soon. They told me that many Japanese caome here but they talk with themselves only. They asked me why Japanese did not talk with the staff. I could not find the right answer easily and quickly. It was difficult for me to explain because I knew that the answer was not the language, English. I have ever seen or heard many Japanese who speak English but they have never talked with the other people. It seems that they are afraid of shame. In my opionion, they think that if they talk with the other people, they will be refused. In fact, we are Japanese and not native English speakers. Many Japanese trend to think that they had to speak like the native speakers. they never notice the most important thing is the communication. In my journey, I had never seen that any Japanese ever talk with the foreigners. Some Japanese asked the foreigners but never talked with them. But Some Japanese spoke to me, talked with me, asked me. Many Japanese talk with them only. It is true. Unconsiously, many Japanese make their own world and enter to their own world. Reality, they travel to India but they don’t go out of their own world and Nobody notices it.

For the first time, I could communicate with the foreignes. English always helped me. Even if I had some trouble, I could ask from someone. The more I talked with someone, The more my worry disappered. When I went to India, I always need the guidebook. But I did not need it day by day. Somebody always helped me. It was the great thing for me. The communication taught the truth to me. Many foregners mistake English. What is the right English? The answer is that the right English does not exist. Many Japanese believe that they must speak the right English. Evevyone except Japanese knows that the communication is the most important.

This Indian journey was the first time for me. Before I went to India, I was not interested in India. I thought that this journey was for leaving Sri Lanka first. I hoped that there would be no accidents in my journey and this journey would be safe. I was negative on this journey because I heard my english teacher about India. She told me that India had no good points. But I was interested in one thing that my english teachers said that They loved India. I could not understand why they love India. First day, I was negative. Second day, I saw the scene that there were lots of Japanese in the International Tourist Bureau at New Delhi station. It changed my mind. I asked myself why I learnt English, I wanted to be a global person and I wanted to change my mind. After that, my mind started to change. I always was positive about everything. I was full of vitality. I wanted to make my journey happy! I saw the handicapped, the poor and needy. They always struggle. I noticed that not I but also many Japanese have no spirits like them. I learnt from them. I determined to fight like them. I always heard this phrase of “A man can only die once”. I understood it for the first time. India taught the real meaning to me. Certainly, India has no good points. But India has just great spirit. So I fell in love with India.

I could not speak English about three months ago. Then I had dreamt of talking and traveling with the foreigners. When I went to India, my dream came true! India helped my dream come true. Now, I really feel that I can do what I want to do. This experience gave me much confidence and changed myself! Thanks India!

English teacher and I discuss about the economy. I asked her how she felt about Sri Lanka economy. She said, “Sri Lanka economy grows up year by year. Earlier period, there were a few small shops only and no supermarkets in this town. When I bought something, it was wrapped around leaves of banana. The roof was mede of big leaves. But now, there is a supermarket with many items. The item was in the plastic bag. The roof is made of concrete. Last year, The terrorists were clear by Sri Lanka Army and Protection budet is able to moved to the other requests. So Everywhere was depeloped and The facilities were provided in Sri Lanka.” I thought the terror wars was end and this was conglaturetations. I told her, “Certainly, this country grows up year by year. Many Sri Lanka people consider Japan as rich country. Many Foreigners, too. So, They want to become Japan. This is a big mistake. They don’t look at the bad points of Japan. After the World War 2 was finished, for about 50 years old, our purpose was economic growing up only. We have taken the other things away. Exsample, it was the human connection. Many Japanese get much money but pay much money. If there are no money, we can not do anything. In real, we are poor and our hearts are poor. I want to advise them. If Sri Lanka people look at Japanese rich only, do the same action of Japanese, Sri Lanka will be unhappy.” English teacher tole me that she thought so and she worried about the future of Sri Lanka.

Ms Manel and I discussed about the economy. I asked her how she felt about Sri Lanka economy. She said, “Sri Lanka economy grows up year by year. Earlier, there were a few small shops only and no supermarkets in this town. When I bought something, it was wrapped around leaves of banana. The roof was touched with coconut leaves. But now, there is a supermarket with many items. The items are in plastic bags. The roof is touched with asbestos and tiles. Last year, the terrorists were killed by Sri Lankan Army and the civil war was over so the budget for the safety could move to the other development projects. So everywhere was developed and the infrastructure facilities were provided in Sri Lanka.” I thought the civil war was over and this is fortune. I told her, “Certainly, this country grows up year by year. Many Sri Lanka people consider Japan as rich country. Many foreigners, too. So, they want to go to Japan. This is a big mistake.

difficult pronounce for Japanese

I got the evening lesson about “SUNDAY OBSERVER”. There were Marriage Proposals with many personal messeages that we had never seen in Japan. Example, “Academically qualified partner below 30 is sought by S/G/B senior public servant parents for their pretty graduate executiv 26 daugher Inherits assets. Kuja Shani 8th house.”,”Buddist Govi age 35, devorced after short marriage, parents seek an educated fair (especially Doctors,Engineers, Teachers) partner for their son(Asst,Superintendent of Police). In Japan, Internet makes these papers dissaper year by year.

Next theme was Caste. Sri Lanka people considered Caste as importance of marriage. religion, too. Necessarily, there is their position of Caste in the Marriage Proposals. The partner they get marriaged is same category person. My Professor told me that Caste was not pyramid, simple. The English Teacher told me Exactrly. In Her explaination, Ancient times The King had got many kinds of people working. They were separated categories of Caste in order to their jobs. There were the categories of King, ministers, foodmakers, sugermakers, toolmakers, cleaners in order. In a category, there were many categories. It is difficult to explain all about Caste now.

Last theme is Discrimination. I told her “Caste is culture and I understand. But Caste is discrimination and it is big problem.” In her opinion, It is discrimination and it will disappear year by year. In Japan, there was the discrimination of Korean. 20years ago, Big banks, National Railways, JAL did not get people has roots of Korea. Now there is the discrimination about foreigners. Japanese get more powerful about Chinese and Korea than American and European. In fact, there are many foreingners in Japan. There are not only Japanese in Japan. Many japanese do not recognize “real Japan” are stupid.

The pronounce of Theme is “TEHMA” in Japanese, and “THEME” in English. I dislike JAPANSE-ENGLISH.

Early, Sri Lanka Female went to Cyprus to work, Male do housekeeping in Sri Lanka. It is the problem for female that they can not communicate with hosts and use cleaning machines. So Sri Lanka goverment teach them to use how to communicate and use.
Next Theme is Pets in Japan. It is strange that Japanese treat Pet in the world.
